My Trip to Henry Road

I stumbled in this amazing shop last weekend in Studio City called Henry Road. The owner, Paula Smail, is a textile designer extrodiaire! Love everything in the shop and I am saving my pennies for her Union Jack chair.

I purchased the new Anthology magazine (which is sooooooooo cool) and some fabric samples. I was thinking of making some Christmas ornaments or pillows with them but on a whim, here is what I made instead.

Pockets on my placemats! I had just been to Ikea and bought these plain placemats for under $2.00.

So all you do is cut out the fabric in pocket size. Mine are 4 x 5 inches. Pin them onto the mats. Sew them on. Easy Peasy. I am a big fan of the zig zag stitch because that means I don’t have to properly hem things. If you want to be fancy, you can hem the pocket and sew it on. I was going for the raw, unfinished look. I even had the stitches go beyond the pockets. I also used red thread on each.

Voila!!! So cute and your kids will LOVE to set the table for you!
